Natural Remedy for Severe Anxiety

Getting anxious is just normal but if you feel anxious every minute of the day then you are certainly suffering from generalized anxiety disorder. There are some natural remedies for severe anxiety and below are the most popular ones: The herb Passionflower scientifically known as Passiflora Incarnata. This was used as a remedy for anxiety and insomnia. A study found that Passionflower to be comparable to benzodiazepine drugs.

There was also seen an improvement on job performance with passionflower and less drowsiness with passionflower compared to the drug mexazolam. Side effects of passionflower include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and rapid heartbeat.

The herb Valerian scientifically known as Valeriana Oficinalis. This herb is best remedy for insomnia. Valerian is usually taken an hour before bedtime. It takes about two to three weeks to work and should not be taken for more than three months at a time. Side effects of valerian may include mild indigestion, headache, palpitations, and dizziness.

Native to Polynesia, the herb kava scientifically known as Piper Methysticum. This has been found to have anti-anxiety effects in humans. Chamomile a flowering plant of the daisy family. The flowers are used medicinally and come in capsule, liquid and tea form. This cures other diseases too other than anxiety. However this should not be use by people who has bleeding disorders. It should not be used two weeks before or after surgery.

Another natural Remedy is Epsom Salt Bath. Pour 2 cups of Epsom Salt into a warm water bath. Bath for not more than 30 minutes. This bath tends to sooth the body and mind. Essential oils that are used for anxiety are bergamot, cypress, jasmine, lavender, Melissa, neroli, rose, sandalwood, ylang-ylang. Lavender is the most common of all.
